I'm starting the New Year with a new venture, an outlet for reflecting on art and related topics that help me to make sense of the world. The first post in the main publication reworks a text I wrote for this website four years ago. It will underpin the more diverse yet connected content I plan to generate in the months ahead, the common denominator being my interest in polarities, how they manifest in and impact our cultural lives.

From early impressions of Substack, it will be a ideal outlet for processing things I read and otherwise think about, but which often get lost among the distractions of the day to day. For instance, I just watched Vince Gilligan's 'Pluribus' on Apple TV, alongside a book about Goethe's science. Both feature themes that may lead to musings, or even reviews.

'Journeys through art history' will be another publication you can click through to from my profile, a place to pour out thoughts and observations about the art of the past in a way that I hope will be lively and engaging. ​And there is, I feel, room for a third, one that reflects ongoing engagement with contemporary art as an art writer and artist. But that lies a little bit down the road. Meanwhile, updates on my art-making, exhibition-going and published reviews are available through the Instagram icons in the menu bar above.
