Wayfinding
Forthcoming two-person exhibition
Courthouse Gallery, Kinvara, Co. Clare
July 24-August 2, 2026
Posted May 2, 2026
‘Wayfinding’, an exhibition of work by sisters Susan Campbell and Paula Hickey, will represent a culmination of conversations held over the past few months, as well as time spent exploring the Burren in Co. Clare, working together on individual and joint projects. It will look to the landscape for inspiration; especially to the dynamic processes and phenomena observed. Among other subjects, the work will reference water cycles, stone formations and flora, including those local to the area, as well as oppositional dynamics found within natural systems.
Susan Campbell, living in Co. Wicklow, graduated with an HND fine art, MPhil and PhD art history. Now integrating her creative and research interests, she is concerned with the active structures that underlie reality as we experience it and the inherent relationships between things. Many of her works incorporate motifs derived from textile components as a metaphor for interplay between polarities.
Leeds-based Paula Hickey, a regular visitor to Kinvara, holds a BA in graphic design and MA in creative practice. Inspired by the elemental, her process is rooted in material play. She believes it is through working with substances that more elusive aspects of our existence can be explored, making visible that which might otherwise remain hidden.
